Error: "Path not defined in the install"
This is indicates that the CD is not ready to be read yet, it needs a moment to spin up and get up to speed in the CD-ROM Drive. Wait a second or two before clicking "OK" (Recite Psalm 23:1-2 and then click). At the end of Disc 3, check to see if there is an iLumina icon on the desktop or in the Start Menu. If so then you may already have iLumina installed and can run the program without any problems.

If you continue to experience this problem, try uninstalling then reinstalling iLumina. Please follow these steps below.

Use the "Add/Remove Programs" Control Panel to uninstall iLumina. Here's how:

  1. Click the START button
  2. Scroll to SETTINGS
  3. Click CONTROL PANEL
  4. Double-click the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS Control Panel to open it
  5. Click ILUMINA BIBLE in the list of programs
  6. Click the ADD/REMOVE (or CHANGE/REMOVE) button

If, after following these steps, iLumina still appears to be on your computer, there's a more thorough (but slower) way to uninstall. Follow these steps:

  1. Insert iLumina CD-ROM #3 into your CD-ROM drive
  2. Double-click the MY COMPUTER icon on your desktop to open it
  3. Right-click the CD-ROM drive icon, then click OPEN
  4. Double-click the UNINSTALL icon to run the uninstaller
This secondary uninstaller may take a longer time, and it may look like it isn't doing anything, but rest assured its clearing all the iLumina files from your computer. There are thousands of files, so please let it continue. When it finishes, it will automatically exit. Reboot your computer, then reinstall iLumina.

"iLumina asked me for a registration number and I don't have one."
You don't need to enter any registration number when installing iLumina. Although the QuickTime installer allows you to enter a registration key if you want to upgrade to QuickTime Pro, the iLumina installer includes the free version of QuickTime. You do not need to purchase QuickTime Pro to use iLumina, upgrading to QuickTime Pro will not enhance iLumina in any way.

Error: "Anything relating to DAO 3.6"
DAO is simply a set of "DLLs" (components required by Windows to do certain tasks) that can be easily updated using Windows Update. Click on the following link to go to the Windows Update page: www.WindowsUpdate.com. While at that web page please take the time to go through all of the update sections you find there. You'll see a section relating to your version of Windows as well as "Critical Updates" and "Driver Updates"; you should be sure to pull updates out of all of these sections. Once you've completed the "Windows Update" step, try either running or installing iLumina again.

Also, if you are using Windows 2000 or XP, you might try logging in as an administrator. This will also help with the DAO problem as well as a font issue that "Non-Administrator" users will run into. If making the user an Administrator is not an option then you can change their account type to be a "Power User".

Acrobat Reader questions

  • "I have the full version of Acrobat installed, can I skip this step?"
The Windows version of the Adobe Acrobat software package consists of a number of smaller applications. The Acrobat Reader is one of these smaller applications. You can safely install another version of Acrobat Reader on your computer without affecting your current installation of Adobe Acrobat and is what we recommend. In future versions of iLumina this step should detect which version you have installed, so as to avoid confusion.

  •
  • "I already have Acrobat Reader installed, can I skip this step?"
First, we need to ensure that you are using at least version 5 of Acrobat Reader. Follow these steps to find out what version you're using.
    1. Go to "Start > Programs"
    2. Listed in that menu you should find an entry named "Acrobat Reader" and at the end of that name it should provide the version number. If not then continue on.
    3. Click on that name "Acrobat Reader" to launch it.
    4. When Acrobat Reader launches go to the "Help" menu and select "About Acrobat Reader".
    5. A window will pop up and near the top of that window you'll see a line of text that states: "Acrobat X . X . X" (example: Acrobat 5.1.0)
If your version of Acrobat Reader is version 5.0 or higher you can safely skip this portion of the installation. If not, we recommend continuing with this portion of the installation to make sure you have the latest compatible version installed.

QuickTime questions

  • "I already have a version of Quicktime installed, can I skip this step?"
First, we need to ensure that you are using at least version 5 of QuickTime. Follow these steps to find out what version you're using.
    1. Click the "Start Menu" then go to "Control Panels > Quicktime"
    2. B: If it's not already selected for you, select "About Quicktime" from the menu at the top of the Quicktime Control panel.
The first line of text (which should be a number) will be the version number you currently have installed. It will resemble this X.X.X (example: 6.0.2)
If your version of QuickTime is version 5.0 or higher you can safely skip this portion of the installation. If not, we recommend continuing with this portion of the installation to make sure you have the latest compatible version installed.

  •
  • "During the Quicktime installation it asked me for a registration number; do I need one and where can I find it?"

"Why did it ask for Disc #1 back?"
This was simply a step we included to allow the installer to clean up and arrange certain files after installation completed. If the installation process go to this point then you actually have a full installation of iLumina.
